许烺光（Francis L. K. Hsu, 1909-1999），行为科学家，心理人类学创始人之一，第62届（1977-1978）美国人类学会主席。继韦伯、汤恩比之后，少数能够在大规模文明社会研究比较中，立下一家之言的大师。心理人类学主要创始人，对文化与人格研究的方法论进行了更新与换代，将大规模文明社会研究的知识向前推进了一大步。其理论对于本土心理学的发展、心理文化学的产生，具有深刻的影响。提供了非西方世界的、对人类行为研究的视角，对行为科学研究，有重大参考价值。

1909年10月28日生于辽宁庄河。1923年入南开中学。

1933年上海沪江大学社会系毕业，同年入辅仁大学研究所，后辍学在北京协和医院从事社会工作。

1937年考取中英庚子赔款奖学金，赴英国伦敦经济学院（LondonSchoolofEconomics）就读人类学，师从马林诺夫斯基（BronislawMalinowski），与费孝通乃同门师兄弟。

1941年取得博士学位，受费孝通邀请返国任教。1943年林顿（RalphLinton）邀请赴美访问，前后担任哥伦比亚大学讲师（1944-1945）、康乃尔大学代理助理教授（1945-1947）。

1947年受聘为西北大学正式助理教授，十年后升为教授，并且担任人类学系主任二十年（1957-1976）。

1978年西北大学退休，随即被旧金山大学聘为文化研究中心主任，并且担任夏威夷大学东西方研究中心（East-WestCenter）资深研究员。

1982年再度退休，不过仍坚持从事讲演以及学术工作。1986年心肌梗塞，还持续论文写作，后又两次中风，不得不停止学术研究。

1999年12月15日病逝于旧金山，享年91岁。

许烺光心理文化学研究会

许烺光心理文化学研究会是由北京大学国际关系学院尚会鹏教授发起的一个学术团体。成立宗旨，在于联合国内乃至于全世界对许烺光（FrancisL.K.Hsu）的心理文化学理论感兴趣者，形成一个定期交换意见、讨论心得、分享成果的一个团体。

北京大学文化与国家行为研究中心

北京大学文化与国家行为研究中心是在许烺光心理文化学研究会基础上发展起来的一个从心理文化学视角研究国家行为的学术机构。本中心致力于整合北京大学校内外相关领域专家、学者的力量及学术资源，联结国内外有关政府部门、企业，努力构建一个跨学科、跨领域的研究平台，最终建成在世界上具有影响力研究人的行为、集团行为、国家行为的学术研究与交流、人才培养及咨询服务基地。
